Abstract In a recent paper, Ve et al. (2021) present sediment budget and morphological change in the Red River Delta under increasing human interferences. However, there are some fundamental flaws associated with applying kriging interpolation technique, sequential bathymetric charts and assessing elevation change between subsequent bathymetric surveys. In addition, their approach to calculating sediment budget is also inaccuracy caused by unreliable inferences. Consequently, their results contradict our current understanding of the Red River sediment dispersal system.
