Abstract In this research article, radiation absorption qualifications of the Fe–Ni alloys were explored. The mass attenuation coefficients ( μ ρ ) of FexNi1-x (x = 0.20, 0.52, 0.55, 0.61 and 0.64) alloys in different concentrations have been determined experimentally for 59.54 keV photon energy and the results were matched with μ ρ values of the alloys found by using WinXCOM program. The results for μ ρ values were consistent with each other. Half value layer (HVL), effective atomic number ( Z e f f ) and electron density (Nel) were calculated by utilizing the μ of the alloy under study. Also, equivalent atomic numbers have been calculated for each alloys and compared with Z e f f . Some differences were observed in the selected absorption parameters according to the change of the concentrations of alloys.
