Abstract A sequence of LaAl2.03(B4O10)O0.54: Dy3+, Eu3+ phosphors were produced by sol-gel reaction method. A number of properties such as phase composition, crystal structure, luminescence performance, lifetime decay curves and mechanism of energy transfer were discussed. Characteristic emission pertain to Dy3+ and Eu3+ ions were observed in its emission spectrum when excited under a wavelength of 349 nm. By comparing the emission spectrum and the fluorescence lifetime decay curves of LaAl2.03(B4O10)O0.54: 0.06Dy3+, yEu3+ phosphors, it can bear out that the energy transfer among Dy3+ ions and Eu3+ ions was existed, and the mechanism of energy transfer was proved to dipole-dipole interaction. The color of these samples can change from green to orange with the increase of concentration of Eu3+ ions concentration, and its correlated color temperature is improved. These results show that the LaAl2.03(B4O10)O0.54: Dy3+, Eu3+ phosphors can be applied for warm WLEDs under near ultraviolet (n-UV).
