Abstract Nanosized Mn-doped Aluminum Silicate nanophosphors were synthesized and various structural and optical characterizations were carried out using X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscopy, UV–vis-Infrared absorption, photoluminescence etc. XRD patterns reveled precipitation of single phase crystals of mean size ∼08 nm when annealed at 1000 °C/2 h. Thermal behavior of the synthesized phosphor was explored using Thermogravimetric analysis. Bright orange–red emission centered at 605 nm due to the 4 T 1  →  6 A 1 transition of Mn 2+ ion were reported on excitation with 384 nm photon. Emission yield was characterized by estimating CIE coordinates which were found to be a function of Mn 2+ ion concentration.
