Abstract We report a novel synthetic strategy to prepare metal-polyphenolic framework through the coordination of manganese ion with a bio-available ellagic acid (EA). The self-assembly of EA with Mn ion results in a stable micro-sized ellagic acid-Mn (EAMn) particle with the features of green and low cost. Direct carbonization of the EAMn assembly leads to the formation of MnOx-Carbon (MnOx-C) nanocomposite with a mixed manganese oxide crystal structure and a relative high surface area. The MnOx-C hybrid materials exhibit superb performance for catalytic degradation of methylene blue with the assistant of H2O2.
