Abstract The synthesis of Ag3PO4/SrFe12O19 heterostructure is reported, in which Ag3PO4 sub-microcubic grows on the surface of SrFe12O19 nanoflake. The microwave absorption performances of the heterostructure are investigated in 2–18 GHz. Due to the complementary phenomenon between the dielectric loss and magnetic loss, the sum values of dielectric loss factor and magnetic loss factor almost keep a constant, indicating no change of loss ability on microwave. The heterostructure exhibits the broad effective bandwidth of 5.2 GHz at 2.3 mm, covering 12.4–17.4 and 17.8–18.0 GHz. The theoretical simulations reveal the interfacial polarization leads to the outstanding microwave absorbing performances.
