Abstract In this work, an ultrathin sulfur-doped Graphene-like carbon (S/C) layer wrapped Ni3S2/Ni composite (Ni3S2/Ni@S/C) is simply fabricated by in situ growth of an ultrathin sulfur-doped Graphene-like carbon layer on the Ni3S2/Ni surface, and used as an anode material for sodium ion batteries, which shows a high specific capacity (318.2 mA h g−1 at 100 mA g−1 after the 120 cycles) and excellent cyclic stability (212.7 mA h g−1 at 1000 mA g−1 after 250 cycles with a corresponding cycles capacity retention of 97.6%).
