Abstract The critical analysis of behavior of Fe and Co in Cu during grain boundary diffusion is carried out. It is proposed that recent diffusion data must be treated as the case of negative segregation. The attempt of description of Fe and Co GB diffusion process as the process with surface tension gradient as additional driving force is presented. It was shown that the change of concentration range dramatically change the results of calculation.
