Abstract The present work demonstrates that BiOBr@SBA-15 composite is prepared via ultrasound-assisted impregnation. The FESEM results reveal that the BiOBr microspheres exits uniformly on the surface of rod-shaped SBA-15. Among the BS composites, the photocatalytic performance of the BS-0.125 sample for rhodamine B (RhB) photooxidation degradation is significantly better than that of pure BiOBr, which is determined to be 92.3%. In addition, the BS-0.125 sample possesses a stable and efficient photocatalytic performance after five recycling runs. In summary, BS photocatalyst can serve as a promising alternative for water purification.
