Abstract Trimetallic and tetrametallic NiCoMo(W) layered solids NiCoMo-L, NiCoW-L and NiCoMoW-L were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Afterward, layered materials were calcined at 673 K to obtain porous mixed oxides complexes NiCoMo-O, NiCoW-O, and NiCoMoW-O as potential precursors for catalytic reactions. The structural, thermal, compositional and textural properties were determined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), chemical analysis by atomic absorption (AA), thermogravimetric (TGA) and differential (DTA) analysis, and BET surface area measured by nitrogen physisorption, which allowed to identify a new composition for NiCoW-L named Silverton type phase and adequate textural properties for NiCoMoW-L and NiCoMo-L materials.
