Abstract The AlCrxNiCu0.5Mo (x = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) HEAs were prepared via arc melting. The x = 0 HEA is composed of BCC1 + BCC2, while x = 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 HEAs are comprised of FCC + BCC2. With the increasement of x, their brittleness decreases, while their plasticity increases. The HEA coatings were deposited using the as-cast HEA electrodes via electrospark – computer numerical control deposition. All HEA coatings contain BCC solid solution. The electrochemical corrosion test in 3.5%NaCl solution and salt spray corrosion test show that the produced HEA coatings can obviously improve the corrosion resistance of Q235 substrate.
