Abstract The g-C3N4/nano-sized ZnO (CZ) composite materials was synthesized as an excellent photocatalyst by a novel route in CO2-saturated solutions. It demonstrates that CZ composite possess high surface areas (63.8 ∼ 122.9 m2 g-1) thus can accelerate electron transport and provide more catalytically active sites. The developed CZ-2 composite exhibits outstanding performance with efficiency of 99.9% after 25 min and excellent stability after four recycles. The present route may inspire the development of excellent ZnO-based catalysts and broaden the applications of ZnO.
