Abstract Tungsten-particle (Wp) reinforced Zr-based bulk metallic glass composites (Wp/BMGCs) were prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS). The effects of the volume fraction of Wp on the densification and mechanical properties of the composites were studied. Weibull statistics were used to analyze the variability of compressive strength of Wp/BMGCs. The Weibull modulus (m) has a strong correlation with the volume fraction of Wp. The lower the volume fraction of Wp, the more uniform the compressive strength of the Wp/BMGCs, and the more reliable the materials should be in practical application.
