Abstract Photocatalytic mono-dehydration of D-sorbitol and D-mannitol was conducted using photoactive cerium dioxide functionalized SBA-15 materials. Synthesized photocatalysts exhibited excellent activities for mono-dehydration products in water. The presence of cyanuric chloride and poly(vinyl alcohol) as additional ligand enhanced catalyst activity and durability.
