Abstract Background and Objective With the development of 3DTV, the visual fatigue caused by watching 3DTV is getting more and more attention. Therefore, it is extremely important to study 3DTV’s effects on human health. Methods This paper utilized multiscale entropy (MSE) to analyze the variations of EEG signals in the occipital lobe before, during and after watching 2DTV and 3DTV for one hour respectively. Results After analyzing MSE under scale 1–10, we found that MSE in occipital lobe did not have significant differences before and after watching 2DTV (p > 0.05); however, MSE decreased significantly after watching 3DTV (p  Conclusions These results suggest that the watching of 3DTV should not exceed 50 min in order to avoid serious visual fatigue.
