Definition and clinical signs Chronic stable angina is a common sign of heart disease, which is the primary cause of death worldwide. The presence of chronic stable angina increases the risk of greater cardiovascular events, and thus the importance of their detection and treatment. Angina is traditionally defined as a retroesternal pain lasting for at least 10 minutes, triggered by exercise or stressful situations and which recedes when resting or with nitroglycin medication.
