Abstract Recently, paper-based electronics are fast developing and have attracted significant attention. In this work, we proposed a novel rice paper-based biodegradable triboelectric nanogenerator (RP-TENG), which is based on single-electrode working mode. The biodegradable materials, such as rice paper and transparent conductive ink, were used as the triboelectric materials and conductive electrode, respectively. After experimental test, the approximate values of open-circuit voltage (VOC), short-circuit current (ISC), and output power density reache 244 V, 6 μA, and 37.64 μW/cm2, respectively. To further improve the electrical output of RP-TENG, we developed a rice paper powder TENG (RPP-TENG). In addition, the fabricated RP-TENG is highly stable and recyclable. The generated electronic output of RP-TENG can light up 45 commercial LEDs.
