A Cu–Ni-containing bimetallic carbon-based material was prepared by the pyrolysis of a metal-organic framework (MOF) synthesized from copper and nickel salts and trimesic acid precursors at room temperature. This material was tested as a counter electrode for the reduction of I3− by means of cyclic voltammetry.
