Abstract The synthesis of aluminophosphate (AlPO) with the LTA framework type was performed for the first time in 1-butylpyridinium chloride ([C4Py]Cl) which functions as solvent as well as structure-directing agent (SDA). The AlPO-LTA was synthesised only after 2 h of crystallisation time at 160 °C without the addition of a co-SDA. [C4Py]Cl remains intact after synthesis, easily recovered and reused. Thus, an efficient and facile synthesis method for the AlPO-LTA is presented.
