Abstract Experimental data reported in the recent paper by Li and coworkers [J. Mol. Liq., 225 (2017) 517–520] has been reanalyzed. Numerical errors are found in the calculated numerical values for the apparent molar volumes of N -(4-bromo-3,5-difluorophenyl) maleimide (BDPM) dissolved in binary solvent mixtures containing N , N -dimethylformamide (DMF) with toluene and with ethanol. The correct method for calculating the apparent molar volumes is illustrated using experimental density data provided in the published paper.
