Abstract Homogenization process of liquid (Bi 0.333 Ga 0.667 ) 96 Sn 4 immiscible alloy in heating-isothermal-cooling cycles was investigated by electrical resistivity method. It was found that most of the homogenization proceeds in the medium temperature range in continuous heating process. The temperature dependence of homogenization velocity presents an exponential growth relation, and depends mainly on mutual diffusion factor. Feeble heterogeneity could make the melt in a ‘pseudo-homogeneous’ state which is difficult to be distinguished from a real homogeneous state. The liquid alloy maybe is heterogeneous in different levels after different melting process, but it could evolve to a same state when cooling to the miscibility gap.
