Abstract A polemic is given in terms of the equations that Kandi and Charles used to calculate the molar enthalpy and molar entropy of dissolution of (−)-epicatechin in the different organic solvents. The equations used in the calculation combine to give a numerical value of zero for the Gibbs energy of dissolution at all temperatures, which is inconsistent with the mathematical expression used for the molar entropy of dissolution.
