Abstract A polemic is given regarding the thermodynamic mixing properties reported in the paper by Liu and coworkers. The authors' calculated thermodynamic mixing properties were found to be internally inconsistent, and do not obey the standard thermodynamic relationship that ∆mixG = ∆mixH − T ∆mixS.
