Abstract β-cyclodextrin cross-linked polymer was prepared with pyromellitic anhydride as a cross-linker and acted for the facile fluorescence recognition. The fluorescence studies exhibited that the probe has an outstanding affinity to diclofenac and can select it in the presence of morphine, ibuprofen, codeine, and amphetamine at the emission wavelength around 423 nm. The fluorescence enhancement process was completed in the optimum pH 7 and response time 1.2 min. The detection limit and linear range, were 0.92 µM and 1–33 µM, respectively. The UV–Vis absorption spectra tracing were proved the static enhancement mechanism for the interaction between nanosponge and diclofenac. Interestingly, the probe can be utilized as a feasible method for the measurement of diclofenac in commercially available tablets.
