Abstract We have reported NiFe2O4@SiO2@Melamine for the first time to catalyzed one-pot three components synthesis of spiropyrans and spiroacenaphthylenes via the reaction of ninhydrin/acenaphthoquinone, malononitrile/ethyl cyanoacetate and various 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. Nickel ferrite nanoparticles were modified with melamine. [3-(2,3-Epoxypropoxy)propyl]trimethoxysilane (EPO) was used as cross linker to bond melamine (organic phease) on the surface of Nickel ferrite nanoparticles (inorgarnic phase). The synthesized catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, SEM, XRD, TGA, VSM and EDX. This new method has superiority of recyclable heterogeneous catalyst that could be easily removed from the reaction mixture by an external magnet, short reaction time, high product yields, and economically and environmentally benign conditions.
