Abstract Imidazole derivatives find wide scale and diverse applications. In this work two new imidazole based compounds have been synthesized. Their structures were confirmed using NMR, Mass Spectrometry and IR techniques. In addition, three dimensional structures were elucidated using single crystal X-rays diffraction analysis. The structures were refined using the classical independent atom model and the aspherical pseudo-atom model from an electron density database. The electrostatic properties and the topology of covalent bonds and intermolecular interactions of both the molecules were quantified on the basis of transferred electron density parameters. This study encourages the use of transferability principle for routine structure analysis as it gives better refinement statistics and reliable estimation of chemical reactivity through the study of electrostatic properties.
