Abstract By using a polydentate Schiff base ligand (H3L), in this paper, a new Dy(III)-based cluster, namely [Dy4(HL)4(CH3O)4]·4CH3OH (1), was successfully obtained and further characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure measurement suggests that cluster 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c and the four center Dy(III) ions of cluster 1 displays a tetrahedral arrangement. The magnetic study reveals that cluster 1 shows remarkable single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior under zero dc filed (ΔE/kB = 54.6 K, and τ0 = 6.43 × 10−7 s).
