Abstract A new hydrogen-bonded single crystals of 4-aminoantipyrinium bisulfate monohydrate (4AAPS) have been grown by conventional solution growth technique. The grown crystal crystallized in monoclinic, P21/c is the space group determined by Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The N atom of the amino group is connected with the O atom of the anion through N–H···O intermolecular hydrogen bonds forming a chain C22(6) motif running along the a-axis of the unit cell. Notably, carbon atom from the pyrazolone ring of the cation is contributed in a C–H···O interaction. Structural parameters and spectroscopic analysis were carried out experimentally and theoretically by using density functional theory (DFT) at 6-311++G(d,p) levels. Furthermore, frontier molecular orbital (FMO) analysis has been studied. The thermal decomposition and thermal stability have been assessed from TG and DTA analyses. Antioxidant activity, cytotoxicity analysis and in vitro biological properties for 4AAPS have been carried out and results show that the title compound is biologically active.
