Abstract A new Ag(I)-based coordination polymer (CP) with formula [Ag(H3L)2(tib)] (1) (H4L=1,3-bis(3,5-dicarboxylphenoxy)benzoic acid and tib=1,3,5-tris(1-imidazolyl) benzene) was prepared under hydrothermal condition and full characterized. 1 shows a 3D 2-fold interpenetrated… Click to show full abstract

1 shows a 3D 2-fold interpenetrated network built by supramolecular interactions. It exhibits efficient photocatalytic performance to photodegrade methylene blue (MB), methyl violet (MV), Rhodamine B (Rh B) under UV light. In presence of 1, about 70.27%, 71.24% and 61.14% degradation of MB, MV and Rh B have been found after 100 min, respectively. The plausible photodegradation pathways for MB dye has been proposed using LC-MS and photocatalytic mechanism explained theoretically using band calculations and Hirshfeld surface analyses.
