Abstract In this study, the nanocrystalline ZnFe2O4 thin films were deposited using spray pyrolysis technique. The structure, morphology, and optical and electrical properties of the sample were analyzed. The film shows higher conductivity for selective illumination having wavelength corresponding to the bang gap energy. In case of thermal excitation the rapid increase in conductivity was observed after 500 K. The combined exposure of heat and light affects the conductivity without changing activation energy of the material.
