Abstract Hierarchical hollow Mn doped Ni(OH)2 nanostructures are successfully synthesized through a well-design sacrificial templating method. As-prepared non-precious metal nanostructures modified electrode exhibits high and stable catalytic activity, and fast electrochemical kinetics. The enhanced performance is associated to the introduction of Mn to Ni(OH)2, which promotes the high oxidation state of Ni and improves the system conductivity, and the hollow structure.
