Abstract We proposed a reconfigurable microwave photonic filter combining the multiple resonances of single microring resonator and optical frequency combs. By manipulating the number of comb lines, the frequency spacing of the comb lines and the relative power between the comb lines, the MPF can be reconfigured from a notch filter with ultra-high rejection ratio to a flat bandstop filter. The mechanism of the reconfigurable microwave photonic filter was clarified theoretically. And in experiments, a notch filter with an ultra-high RF rejection ratio exceed 60 dB and a flat stopband filter with a 10 dB rejection ratio and a stopband ripple less than 0.53 dB were easily reconfigured by manipulating the optical frequency comb lines.
