Abstract Holographic tomography (HT) has become an established, label-free, quantitative measurement technique, which uses the refractive index (RI) as the contrasting agent for cell and tissue analysis. However, the three-dimensional RI imaging is performed at the cost of measurement time, by sequentially acquiring the projections of the measured object. In this paper a simple, single-exposure HT system is proposed. It allows to record a full set of projections multiplexed in a single hologram. The projections are generated by a microlens array and the system works with a robust tomographic reconstruction algorithm to provide satisfactory quality of the 3D RI distribution. The result is demonstrated with reconstructions of calibration objects and biological samples.
