Abstract A series of Bi 3+ and/or Eu 3+ doped LiGd 5 P 2 O 13 (LGPO) were synthesized via a solid state reaction. In the LiGd 5 P 2 O 13 lattice, Bi 3+ shows a broad bluish-green emission around 500 nm and Eu 3+ exhibits typical f-f red emissions. Based on the Bi 3+ → Eu 3+ energy transfers, the luminescence colors can be tuned from bluish-green to orange by altering the Bi 3+ /Eu 3+ ratio. Under the 290 nm excitation, the sample with optimal composition of LGPO:0.1Bi 3+ ,0.01Eu 3+ exhibits a white light emission with a CRI of 82 and a CCT of 4250 K. The energy transfer mechanism from Bi 3+ to Eu 3+ in the LiGd 5 P 2 O 13 host was ascribed to the dipole-dipole interaction.
