Abstract The article presents energy transfer observed in poly (methyl methacrylate) co-doped by trivalent terbium and europium ions. The measured spectra and terbium luminescence decay changes confirm energy transfer process between used lanthanides. Maximum energy transfer efficiency 29.6% was obtained for molar concentration ratio of Eu (tmhd)3/Tb (tmhd)3 equals to 3.6. Additionally, the co-doped polymer host was used for luminescent polymeric fibre fabrication. The waveguide structure is attractive for investigation of energy transfer, reabsorption, and attenuation phenomena observed in polymeric fibre. The luminescent properties vs. fibre length at one end excitation (355 nm) is also investigated in terms of spectrum shape modification.
