Abstract Polymeric sheets of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) doped by charge-transfer (CT) complex of perylene/iodine (pyr/I2), perylene/picric acid (pyr/PA) and perylene/chloranilic acid (pyr/CLA) were synthesized in methanol solvent at room temperature. The optical spectroscopic studies on PMMA polymer doped by charge transfer complex are determined by UV–Vis–NIR spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), Vis–NIR diffused reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and FTIR spectroscopy. The diffused reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) of the polymeric sheet samples is analyzed based on the Kubelka–Munk model. The indirect allowed optical band gaps of the polymeric sheet samples are estimated by applying absorption spectrum fitting (ASF) and Tauc's methods. Here we report the optical spectroscopic studies on PMMA polymer doped by charge transfer complex as potential materials to be used in optoelectronic devices.
