Abstract Over the last 10 years the model of optimal care for children with diabetes has undergone significant changes in the UK. These changes include the introduction of Best Practice Tariff (BPT), the adoption of electronic patient records for diabetes in many centres and other rapidly evolving technology. The changes hope to optimise and standardise care, however they also have had an important impact on the running of diabetes clinics. This review is intended to help prepare healthcare professionals for the complex demands of a modern paediatric diabetes clinic and should help with understanding the multiple facets.
