The resurgence of diseases around the world is a complex issue and fake news is one of the factors related to this phenomenon. The history of vaccines is a good example of success against disease, but the current failure in vaccination belief shows a possible negative influence of social media on society. When social networks become the main source of information for many people at the expense of scientific sources, especially on health, the risk of severe consequences is real. It will be necessary to rethink tackling these issues, with the participation of various sectors of society, in humanity increasingly connected and dependent on social media.
