Abstract A structurally novel 8,9- seco -eudesma-9,4:8,12-dilactone sesquiterpenoid, chlorajapodiolide ( 1 ), a new eudesmane sesquiterpenoid, chlorajapotriol ( 2 ), a new lindenane-type sesquiterpenoid dimer, chlorajaponilide I ( 3 ), and four known lindenane-type sesquiterpenoid dimers were isolated from the whole plant of Chloranthus japonicus. Their structures were established through extensive analysis of NMR spectroscopic data in combination with mass spectrometry. All compounds were evaluated for cytotoxicities against four human cancer cell lines A549, HCT116, MGC803, and HepG2.
