Abstract Two new flavanone glucuronate esters, named scumoniliosides A and B (1-2), along with two known flavonoid glucuronate esters, 5,4′-dihydroxyflavonoid-7-O-β- d -glycuronate methyl ester (3) and 5,4′-dihydroxyflavonoid-7-O-β- d -glycuronate butyl… Click to show full abstract

Abstract Two new flavanone glucuronate esters, named scumoniliosides A and B (1-2), along with two known flavonoid glucuronate esters, 5,4′-dihydroxyflavonoid-7-O-β- d -glycuronate methyl ester (3) and 5,4′-dihydroxyflavonoid-7-O-β- d -glycuronate butyl ester (4), were isolated from the ethanolic extract of the whole plant of Scutellaria moniliorrhiza. Their chemical structures including absolute configurations were determined by means of integrated spectroscopic techniques. In vitro, four compounds showed anti-inflammatory activities, with the inhibition rates of release of β-glucuronidase from rat polymorphonuclear leukocytes being in the range 43.5%-48.1% at concentrations of 10 μM.
