Abstract Two new triterpene saponins named congmuyenoside V (1) and congmuyenoside VI (2), together with eleven known ones (3-13) were isolated from the leaves of Aralia elata. Structures of compounds 1-13 were determined by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses, principally including 1D, 2D NMR and HRESIMS techniques. In addition, all compounds were evaluated for their inhibitory effects on α-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). Compounds 1, 7 and 9-13 exhibited stronger α-glucosidase inhibitory activities than acarbose (the positive control). Simultaneously compounds 1 and 13 also demonstrated significant inhibitory effects on PTP1B.
