Highlights • Chronic, traumatic, and perceived stress were evaluated as effect modifiers.• Higher MVPA was associated with lower prevalence of examined CVD risk factors.• MVPA-CVD risk factor associations were overall not attenuated by stress types.• Chronic stress modified the association between MVPA and prevalent diabetes.• Among Latinos with high chronic stress, diabetes remained high with higher MVPA.
