Abstract The fabrication of melamine-treated graphene oxide (MGO) adsorbed on copper surface was reported. The composition and morphology of MGO were studied by FTIR, Raman, XPS, AFM and SEM analysis. These results clearly indicated that melamine was grafted on the surface of graphene oxide (GO). MGO could be spontaneously adsorbed on copper surface following the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and endow copper with hydrophobic surface. Meanwhile, the copper specimens adsorbed MGO exhibited high inhibition efficiency and outstanding anticorrosion performance according to the electrochemical measurements and immersion tests.
