Abstract Hot stamping of titanium alloy sheets using partial contact heating by contact heating was developed, and cylindrical deep drawing was performed. An outer portion of a 6Al-4V titanium alloy disc blank was heated with a hot stainless-steel ring by thermal conduction. The partially heated blank was drawn just after contact heating. The limiting drawing ratio in partial contact heating was higher than that of whole heating with a furnace. The concentration in deformation at a corner was prevented by the difference in flow stress between the outer portion and punch portion of the blank. A small distortion of the bottom of the cup was observed for the result of partial contact heating because of the non-uniform thermal shrinking.
