Abstract This publication, following the recommendations of European Railway Standards aims to offer an overall picture about the variation of the stiffness of ballasted railway tracks, using different rail track components, with various mechanical properties. In this way also will change the load distribution capacity of the track superstructure, which has a huge influence on the design of the track, respectively on the life cycle of the track elements.
