Abstract This paper defines a representation of real numbers as an approximation that is a trade-off between two well-known representations: the faster fixed-point and the more accurate floating-point. This new representation, called flexed-point and abbreviated as flxp, is generally more suited to low-power / low-size CPU-s that are usually present in embedded applications.
