Abstract The luminescent properties of HfO2 samples were studied considering calcinations carried out at different temperatures (1000, 1200, 1400 1600 °C). The results of XRD showed that the samples, synthesized by the precipitation method, have a crystalline phase in the monoclinic system, and the size of the crystallite increases from 22.8 nm, for sample calcined at 1000 °C, to 41.6 nm for the one calcined at 1600 °C. TL emissions grow with the increase in the calcination temperature. TL glow curves were fitted using the general order kinetics model and Computerized Glow Curve Deconvolution (CGCD), the results determined eight peaks in the sample calcined at 1000 °C, five peaks in the sample calcined at 1200 °C and six peaks for the calcined at 1400 and 1600 °C. The traps parameters values obtained after peaks deconvolutions analysis corroborate with those determined by TM-TStop. In the present work, TM-TStop method allowed to check precisely the energy levels distributions of the traps and their respective kinetic order; comparing the results obtained for each sample, it was possible to observe the changes and the creation of new energy levels due to the different calcination temperatures. CGCD was performed for CW-OSL emission and the presence of fast and medium components were verified in all samples; in the case of the analysis of the LM-OSL curves, the results of the deconvolutions determined two bands, except for the sample calcined at 1000 °C.
