In this issue of the Scandinavian Journal of Pain, Andersson nd co-workers publish a study on pain reduction in hospitalized atients following an intervention consisting of staff education, mplementation of evidence-based pain management guidelines, nd an organization that includes pain responsibility nurses. Data n pain intensity, use of pain rating scales, and analgesic medicaion were collected before (306 patients) and after (293 patients) he intervention, which took place at two hospitals in southwest weden between 2009 and 2010 [1]. The authors found an increase n the use of pain rating scales and a more appropriate prescription f analgesics following the intervention but there was no difference n recordings of patients pain intensity.
