Abstract The conductivity of graphene includes two terms, names of intra-band and inter-band. Graphene is frequency dispersive medium, and the expression of conductivity is quite complicated. Therefore, the dielectric constant model of graphene needs to be studied. This paper proposes to use the Drude-two-critical points (Drude-2CP) model to fit the dielectric constant of graphene with different chemical potentials μ c . And an accurate model suitable for the time-domain algorithm was obtained. The model is applied to the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD). The reflectance and transmittance of single-layer graphene covering the gold substrate are calculated. The comparison with the analytical result shows that the Drude-2CP model is correct and feasible.
