Abstract This work reports the validation of a phase equilibrium apparatus followed by the presentation of new high-pressure phase equilibrium data on systems containing turmeric waste and extracts, derived from processes that employs supercritical fluids and pressurized liquids, in the presence of carbon dioxide, ethanol and dimethylsulfoxide. In order to provide reliable information for further turmeric processing, experimental phase transition data were obtained using ten levels of temperature (303–348 K) and pressures up to 23 MPa. Results indicate the existence of complex phase behavior for the systems containing turmeric extracts and waste, with the occurrence of solid-vapor-liquid, solid-vapor-liquid-liquid, vapor–liquid, liquid–liquid and vapor–liquid–liquid phase transitions.
